Letters to Olivia

Letter Forty Four: you’re certainly not speechless…

Dear Olivia,

Letter Forty One listed all of the words you can say, and in such a short space of time, you’ve learned so many new ones already! You’ll be 21 months old in just over a week, and you really do never shut up! You’ve started forming proper sentences and it’s really amazing to see you developing so much every day.

The french words you can say at (almost) 21 months old are (the ones in bold are the new ones):

Letter Forty Three: more trouble for our little team…

Dear Olivia,

Daddy and I decided that we would try again with the whole au pair thing… so Charlotte arrived on Monday.

And now she’s leaving.

Letter Forty Two: mummy daughter day…

Dear Olivia,

It’s Wednesday, and in our house that means it’s mummy daughter day! The one day a week when I’m not either at university or at work. Continue reading “Letter Forty Two: mummy daughter day…”

Missing you

My gorgeous girl

Thought I’d let you know how much I’m missing you! I haven’t seen you properly in ages I’ve been ill and now auntie Lauren is ill, then I’m expecting all the work to be done here but hopefully we’ll get a little visit in before it begins. You did pop in the other day and learnt a new word – “pretty” – you’re growing up so fast and getting so clever just like mummy I’m sure you’ll have your law degree by the time you’re 10😂

Well I’m going to bed now and look forward to hearing your little voice down the phone. Love you baby girl xxxxx

Letter Forty-One: my little chatterbox…

Dear Olivia,

You’ve really come along well with your speech!

You’re saying a variety of words, and even some French ones Continue reading “Letter Forty-One: my little chatterbox…”

Letter Forty: the ‘c’ word…

Dear Olivia,

This weekend we will be erecting a certain tree in our living room. It’s not quite December yet, so I’ll avoid the ‘c’ word while I write this letter… And no, I don’t mean THAT ‘c’ word! Continue reading “Letter Forty: the ‘c’ word…”

Letter Thirty Nine: the best part of my day…

Dear Olivia,

Recently, Daddy hasn’t been around most mornings as he’s been doing a lot of boxing training with the army. On the up side though, us girls have had buckets of fun without him! Continue reading “Letter Thirty Nine: the best part of my day…”

Wedding day

well what can I say my little baby Mrs you were so well behaved I thought mummy and daddy had switched you with another little girl! You looked so beautiful in your special dress and hung on to your bouquet even though the stalks had snapped and the flowers were all floppy. Mummy looked just like a princess and was getting very stressed so I took you upstairs and you played in the bath for ages so much so that you fell asleep after and I then had to wake you to get you dressed for the big day!             Hope you’re enjoying your holiday and I will see you soon  munchkin.                                                                                          Love you lots and lots.                                                                  Nanny xxxx

Letter Thirty Eight: university and motherhood are hard to juggle…

IMG_0165Dear 21 year old Olivia,

Don’t get pregnant in your last year at university. It’s not a good idea. You’ll have to juggle starting your law career (we both know that’s what your destined for) and childcare, and I can definitively tell you that childcare is absolutely the hardest part of all of this.

Daddy and I thought we had it sussed. We arranged for an au pair to stay with us while I go off to study my BPTC, the last educational training I have to undergo to become a barrister. In principle, it was a brilliant idea. Cheap childcare, flexible hours, help with speaking French and reminding us to speak French to you.
